1. Who We Are

The CandleFaith iOS app is operated by a sole trader business registered in Australia (ABN and GST registered). This Privacy Policy applies to the CandleFaith iOS app only. For questions or privacy requests, contact [email protected] with the subject line “CandleFaith iOS”.

2. Religious & Faith Data — Sensitive Information

Religious beliefs and faith practices are classified as sensitive personal information under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and as a special category of personal data under EU and UK GDPR (Article 9). We apply the highest standard of care to this information.

We do not sell, share, or disclose your faith information to third parties for advertising, marketing, or profiling purposes — ever.

3. Information We Collect & How It Is Stored

The CandleFaith iOS app is designed with a local-first approach. All data is stored on your device or in your own personal iCloud account. We do not operate servers that store your personal information.

Data stored locally on your device or in your iCloud account may include:

• Faith preferences from onboarding: denomination, prayer style, prayer time, and atmosphere preference
• Personal context you choose to share: what you are carrying (e.g. grief, anxiety, gratitude) and your prayer goal
• Age group and gender (optional, used for personalisation only)
• Daily reminder time and notification preferences
• Journal entries you write within the app
• Prayer and ritual completion history and streak
• Subscription status — we receive only a confirmation from Apple; we never see your payment details

We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal identifier. No account creation is required to use the app.

4. How We Use Your Information

• To personalise your daily prayer ritual, scripture selections, and guided prayer paths
• To schedule daily reminders at your preferred time
• To track your ritual streak and spiritual journey progress on your device
• To determine your subscription entitlement via Apple

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app experience for you.

5. iCloud Sync

If you have iCloud enabled on your device, app data may sync to your personal iCloud account. This sync is controlled entirely by your iOS and iCloud settings — not by us. We do not have access to data stored in your iCloud account.

6. Subscriptions & Apple

All subscription purchases are processed exclusively by Apple via the App Store using StoreKit. We receive only confirmation that a subscription is active — we never see, store, or process your payment method, card details, or billing information. Apple's privacy policy governs payment processing.

7. Analytics

The CandleFaith iOS app does not currently collect analytics data. If we introduce analytics in the future, this policy will be updated and clear notice will be provided in the app before any such change takes effect.

8. Data Retention

Data is retained on your device for as long as the app is installed. Uninstalling the app removes locally stored data. iCloud data is retained until you delete it from your iCloud account settings.

9. Your Rights

Because your data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing app data in your device settings. For any questions about personal information we may hold (for example, via support communications), contact us and we will respond within 30 days.

10. International Users

The CandleFaith iOS app is operated from Australia and available globally.

11. Children's Privacy

The CandleFaith iOS app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect changes. For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you in the app.
